It's not "the Union" its
"Our Union"
In today's polarized Canada, Local 37 stands as a pillar of solidarity and community strength. Providing members with the collective power to advocate for fair wages, benefits and safe working conditions in the face of economic and corporate pressures. At a time when division runs deep, Local 37 fosters a sense of shared purpose , where workers from diverse backgrounds come together to champion our common goals. The right to stand up for a better future - one where the well-being of workers is placed at the center of economic progress.
Brothers &
Sisters
I began working for the City of Calgary at Waste and Recycling in 2010. Like many of my sisters and brothers I asked the question "what has the union ever done for me?" I challenged myself to get involved and find out. We risk being out maneuvered when we forget union history and all the benefits we have gained by being united. Unions helped create the middle class which now more than ever is under threat. Unions brought pensions, fair wages, collective bargaining rights, These things are worth fighting for and shouldn't be taken for granted. Those who came before us fought hard for these benefits, they're not a given.
